An unusual and mouth-watering rum-flavoured sweet spread. It first appeared in the larders West Cumbria in the 18th century following the international import of rum and spices into local trading ports. No-one knows who invented this iconic West Cumbrian dish but it is as versatile as it is utterly scrumptious. Once a mainstay of christening celebrations where it was served in special wooden bowls, our award-winning version is perfect dolloped onto Grasmere Gingerbread®, melted over vanilla ice cream or served at Christmas with warmed mince pies and/or Christmas pudding.
