Following on from our popular ‘The Flying Scotsman Train Tin’ last year, we are delighted to bring another iconic train tin to our Heritage Railway collection – the art-deco masterpiece ‘The Duchess of Hamilton’ locomotive.
Ever since it first rolled out of the locomotive works in the early 20th century, good ol' 46229 — officially called 'The Duchess of Hamilton' — has had quite the story. Built in 1939 in the legendary Crewe Locomotive Works (once the largest train manufacturing facility in the world), this mighty ‘iron horse’ boasted 3,300 horsepower, speeds over 110mph and was once part of the flagship London, Midlands and Scottish Railway Line (LMS) making it one of the most impressive steam trains of its day. Following its brief stint in Butlin’s Minehead Camp (maybe you saw it there as a child?), this classic British steam train is now fully restored to working order and after the occasional journey out is on permanent display in the National Railway Museum.

As Grasmere Gingerbread® has NO additives or preservatives, please treat it like bread by consuming it within one week of purchase. Please store in an airtight container or tin like any other biscuit or cake. To maintain the chewy texture of Grasmere Gingerbread® keep refrigerated, but if you do not like to eat it hard bring it to room temperature for about ten minutes. You may also freshen or warm Grasmere Gingerbread® by placing it on a baking sheet in a conventional oven, moderate heat for a few minutes. It can be frozen on the day of purchase/receipt; defrost as you would with slices of bread - just take out the number of slices you intend to eat on the day.
