Full or Part Time Bakery Assistant positions available.

Days of work:                               5 days (including a Sat or Sun) other days TBC

Hours of work:                             Full time: 9.00am to 5.30pm* (1 hour for lunch)

                                                      Part time: less than 5 full days. 

*From the first Monday in November until the first Monday in January the shop will close at 5pm and therefore half an hour less to be worked each day. From the first Monday in January until the week preceding February Half Term (wherever that may fall) the shop will close at 4:30pm and therefore one hour less to be worked each day.

 

Rate of pay:                                       £11.00 an hour (age 23 and over)      

Bonus: An annual bonus of £1,000 (Only payable on successful completion of worked employment to January 1st each year (pro rata from employment date).

                       

Length of Contract:                         Permanent after probationary period

 

Main Purpose of the job: To work as part of a small team in a specialist bakery assisting in production of Gingerbread and kitchen operation and providing final presentation of products through packaging.

Main tasks of the job: Product preparation, baking, packaging, cleaning of work areas, quality control, off-loading of deliveries.

 

Relationships -

Ultimately responsible to: The Directors

Reporting to: Bakery Manager and Operations Manager

Liaison with: All members of staff

 

Suitable Candidate:

  • Reliable and flexible.
  • Can work as part of a small team in a limited and fast paced environment.
  • Presentable for working in a food production environment and adhere to such legislation.
  • Can deliver first class customer satisfaction through quality performance.
  • Experience not necessary as full training can be given for the right candidate.

                                                       Part time: less than 5 full days (min of 2), OR morning/afternoon shifts available.

Main Purpose of the job: To work as part of a small team in a specialist bakery shop/attraction. Providing final presentation of products through packaging and offering first class customer service through knowledge and communication to a wide range of international customers. Very occasional work at ‘pop-up’ shops and events. Our new shop refurbishment has created an even more covid secure working environment.

Main tasks of the job:

  • Preparation of stock
  • Packaging of stock and wrapping product
  • Customer care
  • Advising and informing
  • Using Electronic Point of Sale
  • Taking orders
  • Preparing work areas and cleaning work areas
  • Shop housekeeping
  • Stock control – re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Presentation of stock
  • Delivery of group talks to visiting groups (in foreign language if applicable)
  • The flexibility to work at shows as and when required

  • Experience in a customer service role in retail/tourism.

Days of work:

Varied: dictated by the demands of the post which can vary. Includes outside events, promotional activities and talks. Events are often weekends and talks are usually held in the evening. More information given under 'main purpose of the job'. 

Hours of work:

37.5 hours per week, hours are varied due to the nature of the job i.e., event, location (starts can be early and talks can finish late). When working on event organisation administration this is undertaken in the offices in Grasmere the normal working day is 9am till 5.30pm (1 hour for lunch). Due to Covid there are some restrictions with events but the programme will grow and develop as this changes, until that time to meet the full-time hours the Sales Ambassador will work as part of the shop sales team enabling them to gain experience and knowledge of the business and its operation ready to execute the position effectively when out at events.  We are planning to attend Westmorland County Show, Taste Cockermouth, Taste Maryport, Christmas Fairs in Cheshire, and markets such as Cedar Farm at Ormskirk in the first instance.

When the full programme is in operation some weeks (due to logistics) maybe above the weekly hours but hours are adjusted accordingly for the following week by taking time off in lieu that is why we are looking for a flexible person who does not like same old same old.

 

Rate of pay:

£13 per hour plus commission – further information given at interview.

 

Holidays:

Statutory pro-rota, to be taken around the event calendar.   

 

Main purpose of the job: An exciting post for someone who considers themselves to be a ‘people person’ and relishes being the ‘face’ of Grasmere Gingerbread® in and out of Cumbria. It entails flexible working at outdoor and indoor (when permitted) events, shows, country fairs, promotional days and pop-up shops, and also includes giving promotional talks to a wide variety of interested parties such as U3A, Rotary and WI (when restrictions allow). Duties involve preparing for and attending all of the above to make direct sales and build ‘brand’ awareness, communicate information about Grasmere Gingerbread® and promote the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, its mail order service and pivotal role within the Lakeland economy. The successful candidate would have a genuine enthusiasm for the product and its fascinating social history, an appreciation of Cumbria and the Lake District as a visitor destination and a love of the area’s distinctive food heritage.

Main tasks of the job:

  • Research and plan an events programme to maximise sales and company exposure;
  • Prepare company briefing notes through logistical planning;
  • Prepare stock sheets and stock;
  • Pack vehicle of all stock and equipment and take to location;
  • Setting up and taking down of stand/presentation and any equipment;
  • Visual display and delivery of company image and brand;
  • First class customer care;
  • Sales and promotion of the business, the gingerbread and sundry products;
  • Inform and sell on shop and other products and services; mail order, group visits, talks, etc.;
  • Delivery of talks and presentations to both public and trade through various mediums;
  • Event housekeeping;
  • Working alongside other team members or in supervisory capacity when events require additional staffing;
  • Stock monitoring and final stock checks;
  • Responsibility of income;
  • Be responsible for health & safety;
  • Event de-brief paperwork;
  • Event evaluation with Sales and Marketing Executive ;
  • Continual research for other promotional events and opportunities through event media/contacts and associates;
  • Assist with any in-house events;
  • Undertake any other duties, reasonably requested by the managers to ensure the best sales and marketing opportunities for the business are executed.

 

Relationships –

Ultimately responsible to: The Directors and Brand Marketing Manager.

Liaison with: Direct liaison with the Sales and Marketing Executive. 

 

Person Specification: The successful candidate must be able to work and travel independently to various locations, be energetic, efficient and highly organised. Completely sales focussed, be highly personable and presentable being responsible to act as the ambassador for the business. Have exceptional organisational skills and an eye for detail. Be able to communicate at all levels. Experience in sales and or event management would be beneficial.

 

Essential Skills: Competent driver (to drive company van) with clean licence. Sales, strong organisational and customer care experience, self and time management, computer literate with high level of English and maths.

Main purpose of the job: To have the ability to clean independently to a high standard, within a small family business in various office and operational buildings.

Main tasks of the job: To provide a high standard of cleaning with care and attention adhering to our Covid policy.

Suitable Candidate:

  • Reliable and flexible.
  • Able to work independently to a high standard.
  • Presentable for working in a food production environment.
