Grasmere Gingerbread® Wedding Favours are back on the marital menu to meet demand from brides to be.
“We had so many calls and emails from couples requesting them for their big day we felt obliged to reintroduce them,” explained Joanne Hunter, co-director of Grasmere Gingerbread®.
The historic business stopped producing Grasmere Gingerbread® Wedding Favours in 2020 when the first national Covid lockdown wrought havoc on the UK’s wedding industry.
“As we are in the heart of the Lake District - which is regularly voted one of the UK’s most romantic destinations - we always intended to re-introduce Grasmere Gingerbread® Wedding Favours.
“So I’m thrilled we are once again working with excited couples as they plan their big day.”
Available in either heart-shaped or traditional pieces, Grasmere Gingerbread® Wedding Favours are presented in a variety of attractive boxes and tins.
“Many couples turn to us because marriage proposals took place in Grasmere or the Lake District,” explained Joanne. “For others, childhood recollections of visiting The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop trigger a wave of nostalgia.” Invented in 1854 by Victorian cook Sarah Nelson, Grasmere Gingerbread® celebrates its 170th anniversary in 2024. “We have lots of exciting celebratory events planned so it seemed the perfect year to bring back our Wedding Favours,” explained Joanne.
