Following sell-out hand balm sensation, Grasmere Gingerbread and Pure Lakes Skin Care launch more ginger skin care products

Following the runaway success of our first ginger infused product, Sarah’s Hand Balm, we’re delighted to announce three new products from our collaboration with Pure Lakes Skin Care. The latest additions to ‘Sarah’s range’ include: Sarah’s Uplifting Hand & Body Wash; Sarah’s Nourishing Lip Balm; and Sarah’s Soothing Body Lotion. The product range is named after our own iconic figure Sarah Nelson, Cumbria’s first female entrepreneur and pioneer of our world-famous Grasmere Gingerbread.

The three new products are all made from natural and pure ingredients and harness the invigorating and warming qualities of Ginger. Sarah’s Uplifting Hand & Body Wash comes in a recyclable 250ml plastic pump bottle and retails at £6.50. Sarah’s Soothing Body Lotion also comes in a recyclable 250ml plastic pump bottle and retails at £7.50. The Nourishing Lip Balm comes in a recyclable 25ml glass screw top pot and retails at £3.95. The smell of the ginger in the products is both uplifting and comforting at the same time

We’re thrilled by the success of Sarah’s Hand Balm - it exceeded all our sales projections for last year. Everywhere we go now, people are talking about it. In our shop and whenever we’re at a show, we put out a tester and customers seem intrigued with the idea of a ginger hand balm. Once they try it the comments are really positive and people can’t stop smelling their hands. Many sales come through our website. People are ordering a pack of our gingerbread and at the same time purchasing several pots of hand balm. We’ve had several customers purchase the hand balm specifically for spouses with ‘gardening hands’ that need a little soothing.

Ginger is a very special substance. It has been used for its medicinal and therapeutic properties for centuries, so we felt it made sense to extend its invigorating natural qualities into more natural skin products. In addition, people find the smell of the ginger in the products both uplifting and comforting at the same time. The success of the first product has been made all the sweeter through working with our dear friend and business neighbour Sandra Blackburn, owner and founder of award-winning Pure Lakes Skin Care.

About Pure Lakes Skin Care
In 2002, Sandra Blackburn started making natural skin care products in the village of Grasmere for her own use. This ‘hobby’ extended to special concoctions for family and friends and eventually resulted in a wide range of eco-friendly, natural toiletries and skin care products hand made using sustainably sourced raw materials. In addition the company provides a range of guest toiletries to hotels and guest houses throughout the UK.

In 2010 Pure Lakes Skin Care were awarded the title ‘Green Business of the Year 2010’ by the Westmorland Gazette. They also won the 2010 award for ‘Most Commitment to Sustainability’ from Nurture Lakeland.
