Chris
Evans
The
popular and often controversial TV and radio personality swapped discs for
biscs when he visited the Grasmere Gingerbread on a weekend break in the
Lake District. He shared one important thing in common with us; yes, the
colour of his famous barnet! “We even joked about the ‘ginger’
connection when he came into the shop,” smiled head baker Andrew Hunter,
who described Chris as “one of the most down to earth celebrities” he
has ever met. “He absolutely loved the gingerbread, chatted for ages and
was really happy to pose for a picture with our staff.” Evans began his
broadcasting career at Manchester Piccadilly in 1983 and later rose to
national TV prominence with Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast and TFI
Friday. A hugely successful spell at Radio 1 ended in controversy after he
famously walked out of the station after a spat with bosses. His private
life has been as colourful as his career with marriages to Loose Women
star Carol McGiffin and pop star turned Dr Who actress Billie Piper. Chris
is now married to golfer and model Natasha Shishmanian and the couple have
a young son called Noah. He is now the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show
presenter. If Chris needs anything to dunk in his early morning coffee, he
knows where to come...
