Grasmere Gingerbread - Makers of fine Cumbrian Confectionery since 1854

The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop has been fęted with food awards acknowledging the quality of its unique produce.

Yet the daily challenge stays the same - to bake the freshest, tastiest chewy biscuit in the world!

“The last slice of Grasmere Gingerbread to be sold on any given day has to be as delicious as the first piece bought by the first customer first thing in the morning,” insists Joanne Wilson, who manages the shop.

“Keeping all our customers satisfied is our aim and their accolades mean everything to us.”

“However, when the awards from official organisations started coming in everyone involved in the shop got a real buzz - it was flattering and exciting at the same time.”

	Lake District Food Hero 2009/2010 The prestigious Food and Wine Awards from Lancashire Life and its sister title Cheshire Life are now firmly established on the North West's Culinary Calendar. During a gala black tie dinner at Michael Caine's acclaimed restaurant in Manchester's Abode Hotel on 22nd September, the winners were revealed. Grasmere Gingerbread was awarded Lake District Food Hero 2009/2010 for the best producer of food in the region. Andrew Hunter & Joanne Wilson were thrilled to receive the award and thank the rest of the team for their contribution to its achievement.
